i made these fun canvases for our bedroom the other day... i can't take credit... the idea is from SIStv... but i love how they turned out.... just 10x10 canveses, painted the edges black, glued patterned paper to the front and then brushed a touch of black paint on the paper for a distressed look. voila!
the paper is so yummy... it is Amy Butler by K and Co.
As soon as i bought it i knew i had to display this paper in my house some way.

it was the freaking 80's and i was punk rock and everyone of my friends wanted to do their hair like me but their parents wouldn't let them...... i was a free spirit and didn't care when guys at the groccery store called me son....

the boley girls!

these are my mom and her sisters (minus laurie)... i have always loved this pic and so has my mom, unfortunatly she had it hanging in the kitchen for years and it got covered in kitchen grease..... i am trying to clean it up in photoshop.... any one have some expereicnce with old pics.... how can i make it look newer.... i cloned out the spots but patty's face (the little one) looks a littled f-ed up...kinda like she has downs or something.... but it still looks better than the original....

we went! this past week! we go every year... it wouldn't be summer without a trip to get some yummy food, check out the live stock and arts and crafts and ride some coasters... too bad ron took me on this crazy ride that made me feel sick so i wouldn't go on anymore.... i myself prefer the fun house and the haunted house... here's my fav pics from our day and also a layout with our photobooth pics....

speaking of my book... look what dumb dumb Lola did today.... least she didn't ruin any of the pages... i say it adds character to the book... looks like it went through a battle or something...

Probably wont compare to all the others here, everyone seems like such great people. but today on my walk with cowboy we picked up a pile of poop that was right on the sidewalk and was not even ours (or his actually since I dont partake to pooping on sidewalk). Anyway it was in front of this old lady's house and I felt bad because nobody wants to come home to a steaming pile right in their walkway, and no elderly woman should have to stoop down to clean it up. I dont blame the pooper though because CB has tricked me twice this week on walks by "going" 2x when I only had one bag. Ohwell, Sh*t happens! :)

i've talked a few times about the joy of performing random acts of kindness.... i live for doing things like this... makes me feel so good. on monday i recieved a package... thinking it was my ebay order of scrapbooking goods i ripped into the box like a madwoman... what? a cast iron skillet? i didn't order this! looking at the invoice i see it reads
"to diane, happy birthday, love mom and dad"
omg... this poor girl is not gonna get her birthday present!
thnakfully the sender's address was on the invoice and he lived in Novato, CA, the town where i work

this week at the effer dares you are supposed to find things someone else might throw out and recycle it in a layout....well i actually found garbage.... not sure what it went to but the yellow doodle background is a piece of cardboard i found on the ground in a parking lot... how could anyone throw this away??? it is so fun and colorful!

back to work that is.... i have day the past 3 days off and it has been amazing... 3 days off is the only way to go. i did so much and had a really good time. yestersay my wonderful husband cleaned the garage and the yard all day and never nagged me once while i was inside being lazy. i did clean my scrapbook room and create 3 pages..that's productive....
he worked all day and then made me a hotdog for lunch and then took all my junk to the goodwill.... so i took him out to dinner last night. here is a LO i did of my little nephew a few weeks ago... kacy keeps nagging me to post it cause she wants a looksy.
also, these are my favorite shoes right now...can't beat $12 at Target!

day 2 of 3 day weekend!

i convinced brenda to call in sick to work yesterday so we could spend the day scrapping....call it a mental health day! it has been H-O-T here in california so that was the only downer... we scrapped all afternoon and then went out to dinner with her daughter brandi and debbi. brandi and i then went to see knocked up with ron. brandi works at the movie theatre so she get free movies for herself and 3 guests whenever she wants. it was a laugh your @$$ off kinda film...but a little too long.

my favorite holiday!

4th of july is my alltime favorite holiday... so much fun! we had a great day yesterday. spent family time at home with ron and the dogs, went out to breakfast... took a nap.... went to debs for a quick visit... bbqed dinner.... f ireworks at the fairgrounds with brenda and the gang... back to brenda's to light off our own... beddy bye!

OLW--- new

This weeks word on the "one little word" site is new.. so that means you have to create a layout with the word new... here's mine. I was complaning to ron the other day that i didn't want to do my laundry. He asked why i always hate doing it so much. It's not really that doing the laundrey is that bad.. pretty easy actually, throw it the wash then the dryer... it's folding that i really hate. Ron said to look at it like getting "NEW" clothes...

parking update

just got a letter from SF parking... it will take up to 4 monthes for them to review my case but no more charges will incure during the review process....

friday fore play...a day late!

i finally caught him... the tension has been building for a week.. but today my plan worked....
back up, backup!
everyday the icecreamman drives down our street... but this is no ordinary icecream man.. he drives super fast...
everyday, i hear him and go running to catch him, but by the time i get out of the house, he has cruised halfway down the street, i wave and yell, but he doesn't stop.
so yesterday was a day like any other.... i hear THE SONG and i scrample to the change bowl and swoop up a handful of quarters. shoes? shoes? where's my shoes? no time for shoes nikki... you gotta book it or you'll miss him... run, for the love of icecream RUN!
NOOOO! He's gone... that sneeky man has bamboozled me again, oh the misery!
and that's the moment i unveiled my master plan... next time, i would be ready... so i got my handful of quarters and neatly stacked them on the hutch by the front door... and i waited.....
at about 3:37 today i heard him... louder than usual...
go!go! if the plan is gonna work you gotta go! so i jumped off the bed and jetted to the front door, grapped my stack of dubloons and swung open the door.
he was right in front of the house and moving fast.
YEAHHHHH!!!!! STOPPPP!!!!! huffing and puffing i ran to the truck. already feeling my victory i promtly said,
1 chaco taco please!
$2.50 later (yes, icecream prices sure have risen... stupid inflation) i was enjoying my delicious treat and releshing in his defeat!
really, i have no shame. you'de think i, at the well groomed age of 25 i would be more mature than to strategically plan an attack on the ice cream man but... i 'm not! it felt great to go chasing that truck.... so i ask you...when was the last time you let your inhibitions go and chased down the street like a 7yo?

stupid san francisco!

i am so annoyed. i parked my car on the street in san francsico earlier this month on a tuesday am. i then got a ticket for street cleaning. the sign said street cleaning mon, weds, friday AM... i was parked there tuesday AM... WTF?
so i wrote a letter explaining my case and protesting the ticket as i am certain i did nothing wrong.
yesterday i got a letter saying my ticket still hadn't been paid and it now has some additional late charges tacked on...

okay, so the original ticket was only $25, but it is the principle. i am not paying for something i didn't do. you know?

one of my customers used to work for the PD in SF and said parking ticketers do this all the time. they give out tickets when the violator was clearly doing nothing wrong. the logic is that if they do this to 100 people, 80 of them will just pay the fine, while the other 20 will fight it.
what person would just PAY the ticket when they did nothing wrong.
sure, i guess it might have been easier for me to just pay it then write letter after letter to the Department of Traffic and Parking... but it is the principle....

so count me in with the 20 people who fight! i will not pay this ticket. i will just keep sending my letters... seriously, the sign did not say tuesday and i had a friend double check for me to ensure i was not crazy...

stupid san francisco... this is why i live in the suburbs!
